Silence rests over the vacant tomb
The king who fell in battle now is back
Raised is that king born in earthen womb
A king whose bones are broken, charred and black
He rose again of anger, wrath, and spite
Once more will he rule and lead us to fight
To crush the ones who insult his domain
We’ll die for the king who has gone insane
But some were tentative to take up arms
To serve the wise who claimed the crown anew
Much rather would they attempt to do harm
To the great emperor who hurt so few
In robes of green and gold and grey metal
Out to meet the enemy fleet to settle
Rode the fiercest fighters in the known world
A war long past that once again unfurled
Spears and swords thrown by the armies and hordes
Thousands and thousands more men will meet death
To please the twisted wills of undead lords
While flesh may tire, spirits don’t catch their breath
The troops gave up and fled the fields now red
And power still corrupts immortal heads
“We near victory” cried King joyously
And the people planned the end of his glee
Assassins chased the walking skeleton
Across the nation that he’d built until
He imprisoned them and dueled till their end
While the flesh may tire, spirits can’t get killed
Then trapped was the mighty king by peasants
Who dared to attack the king to lessen
Their struggle with poverty and famine
They seized his riches and cried “how’d this happen?”
Overjoyed were those who helped capture the king
Who now wallowed in prisons dark and damp
Underground but still he heard the people sing
“The only light the king will see is burning lamp”
Long ago there was a king of broken bone
Who sat upon a jeweled and golden throne
Risen was he for many centuries
Now reduced to ashes and memories
