In life's vast garden, we start as tender shoots,
With hearts unburdened, free from heavy boots,
But time's relentless sun,
It scalds our skin, and growing up, a journey to begin.
Like petals, we unfold, our colors bright
Yet shadows gather, slowly dimming light,
With each passing year, a layer added on,
Until the world feels heavy, like a stone.
The weight of gravity,
It pulls us down,
Drowning our spirits in a profound sea,
Growing up, it seems, can be a tide,
That sweeps us far from youth, where we once thrived.
We're trees that stand so tall, so firm, so wise,
But in the process, something slowly dies,
Our hearts, once open fields, now guarded gates. As life's complexities, our minds narrate.
Yet, in this metamorphosis, we find,
A strength within, a fortitude of mind,
For growing up, though it may make us numb,
Reveals the beauty in the battles won.
Like metamorphic stones, we may be changed,
But deep within, our core remains unchanged,
For growing up, though it may steal our cheer,
Can't take away the dreams we hold so dear.
So let us journey through this life's refrain,
With heavy hearts, weighed down by life's disdain,
For in the numbness, there's a truth to see,
The bittersweet reality of what we'll be.
