Eve of Love's Demise

Kendall Powell

High School Sophomore

February 2024

Prompt: Write a love story in the form of a poem.

On the eve of love's demise,

Poets wove their dreams,

Lovers shared tender kisses,

Mothers embraced their daughters,

Children frolicked in fields hand in hand.

Yet, they refuse to recognize the impending loss of intimacy,

The sorrow affection will bear,

The despair of fondness.

No, Fathers held their spouses close,

Brothers tended to one another with care.

Dancing joyously in the streets,

Rain gathered in puddles at their feet.

Immersed in a vibrant whirlwind of emotions,

On the eve of love's demise.
