If you observe a traditional clock, you'd be familiar with its repetitive internal song:
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
But when you look at time as a whole, as a system, you notice it likes to take a lot.
It takes the people we love away from us,
It takes the bliss of ignorance and youth,
And it takes the world through decay and decomposition.
People say, “it takes time”, when really time takes it.
Putting this into consideration, a clock's droning can be heard as:
Tick, take, tick, take.
But on the other hand, the minute hand, to be specific, time has the opportunity to give.
It gives new relationships,
It gives the wisdom that comes with age,
And it gives new life and greater creations.
People say, “Give it time”, when really time gives us it.
So when all is said and done, and you're listening to that old clock on the wall, its voice really ebbs:
Give, take, give, take.
