Unnamed Poem

High School Student

November/December 2023

My fingers wrap around her hand,

I ponder cutting, my hand in strife,

To feel if fingers cling to life.

Sever tendons in this dire quest,

Will they still bend at my behest?

Or will this act, bold and grand,

Release me forever from her hand's firm stand?

But warmth prevails in the summer air,

A choice to make, a burden to bear.

To hold or not, in love's demand,

As my fingers yearn, my heart unplanned.
