Prompt: How do you personally change with the seasons or how do you see others around you change (summer, fall, winter, and spring)?
Through the mist clear I could see,
Behind the cruel veil of mist with glee
A time of happiness, shared is that memory
With two others I swore I knew…
But as leaves fell and stories were written,
Attitudes and affections in all minds wherein
Shifted with the winds, who’ve never forgiven,
Even in the sharp face of sin.
Now fogged my judgements are,
By June mist as I wander far
Into the memories, the cause of my scars
And those people I once knew are not there now.
I am saddened to see them fade,
But just as one in winter wants not shade,
I look back sadly at the bygone friends I made…
But I do not seek them now, instead I focus on the how.
HOW is the question, the inquiry
I ask myself when joyous or dreary,
HOW do we all change, such a mystery
I contemplate the meaning of seasonal fate…
Need not do I those falling leaves,
Nor the pure white snow one sees,
Or the scentful showers of rebirth,
Not even the shade-sought season of unlit hearth.
All I need is a clock and calendar,
To keep ticking time and see the divine challenger,
And to prevent natural setbacks of such caliber,
But I will always have to deal with all my friends' time to die.
When they pass they are not buried in a grave,
But are lost to time so others save,
In the memories of all kinds they gave,
To their friends, enemies, and acquaintances alike.
People change forever, there is no going back.
Just as a frozen river in spring will melt and crack,
A hard worker can be born from a slack
And vice versa because people don’t think twice.
All it takes is a change in season,
And people change for only that reason,
So be aware of your treason
As your leaves grow, then fall, then get frozen.
